Shiba Inu SHIB

Key facts
Why
SHIB was launched in August 2020 by a pseudonymous developer 'Ryoshi' whose identity is not public. The current lead is the pseudonymous 'Shytoshi Kusama'; shib.io lists only X handles (@ShytoshiKusama, @kaaldhairya, @shibtoken) and names no individuals. Alpha Transform Holdings (named partners Enzo Villani, Michael Terpin, Seth Shapiro) is an advisor to the Foundation, not a team member.
source source sourceWhy
Etherscan lists a Callisto Network security audit for the SHIB token contract, submitted 22 Dec 2023. The report itself was not read, so findings and audit date are unverified; the date given is the Etherscan submission date. No audit of Shibarium was verified.
sourceWhy
Token contract (Ethereum, TokenMint ERC-20, Solidity 0.5.0): verified source has _mint only in the constructor and no owner, pause or blacklist function, so no key can mint or freeze SHIB on Ethereum. Not covered: Shibarium (separate layer-2 with a validator set, BONE staking and an Ethereum bridge). The Sept 2025 bridge exploit involved compromised validator keys, after which the team 'rotated all validator keys' and moved 100+ contracts to 'secure wallets'; who holds the new keys and whether a multisig/timelock is used was not found, so no single value is assigned.
source source sourceWhy
No unlock or vesting schedule: the full 1 quadrillion supply was minted at contract creation (no mint function afterward). Supply only falls via burns (about 41% already sent to the dead address). Whether the Foundation/DAO treasury holds tokens that could be moved was not verified.

How measured
Annual fees = DefiLlama trailing-1-year gas fees on the Shibarium chain only ($958.12; DefiLlama defines revenue as burned coins). 1-year revenue not retrieved (24h chain revenue shown as $4.38 on the chain page), so left null. ShibaSwap and the SHIB token on Ethereum are not included. No company revenue is reported.
How counted
Excluding the burn address 0xdead...42069 (41.04% of the 1-quadrillion nominal supply), the next 10 holders (Ethplorer, 2026-10-07) hold about 226.9T SHIB = about 38.5% of CoinGecko's 589.239T circulating supply. INCLUDES exchange/custody addresses: 0x5a52...efcb is labeled 'Binance 28' and 0x40b3...e489 'Robinhood' on Etherscan; the other eight are not labeled in sources I read (one, 0x02e2...481e, has no Etherscan tag) and may be exchange, contract or individual wallets. Ethereum-only; Shibarium balances not counted. Counting the burn address as a holder, the top 10 would be about 63% of the nominal 1T supply.

Today's price, and what it would take
Snapshot from the aggregator on 7 Oct 2026. To see the live price, press the button: it loads from CoinGecko and CoinGecko will see your IP address (see the privacy notice).
Pick a multiple of the last 12 months of fees. The tool shows the token price that multiple would imply with today's supply. The multiple is your assumption, not our estimate. Fees are tiny compared with the market cap (3,328,271 x), so this lens says little here: the price rests on something else.
Fees are what users pay, not what holders receive: how much reaches token holders depends on the design (burns, treasury, fee switches, validators). The result ignores issuance, risk, growth and time. A lens to ask questions, not a valuation or advice.

Incidents and legal actions
Incidents
- 2025-09-12 Shibarium bridge exploit: an attacker submitted false data to Shibarium's Ethereum-linked contracts using compromised validator keys and temporarily staked BONE to meet validation thresholds; about $4.1M in ETH, SHIB and 15 other tokens was drained per a 17 Sept community update (other outlets reported about $2.4M). Outcome: 4.6 million BONE recovered from the attacker's contract; most of the rest was moved by the attacker. A 50 ETH bounty offer got no deal. As of 2025-10-03 refunds were planned but unpaid; later status not verified. User funds lost, mostly recovered or reimbursed source

What we could not verify
Not verified: legal form/jurisdiction of Shib Doggy DAO Foundation; Callisto audit report content and date; control and multisig setup of Shibarium validators/bridge/upgradeable contracts (admin_control left null); labels for 8 of the top-10 Ethereum holders; Shibarium 1-year revenue; whether Sept 2025 refunds were paid; the exploit loss is reported inconsistently ($4.1M vs $2.4M). CoinGecko page text renders price incorrectly; used markets API price of $0.00000541 (rounded by the API).
